A rare and important early-Modernist drawing of a Native American subject, by the Taos master who co-founded in 1938 the pioneering Transcendental Painting Group in Santa Fe.

The drawing is very likely a study from a famous series of Modernist paintings based on New Mexico Pueblo Indian dances which were shown in New York in 1933.
